Celebration of Slovenia's Statehood Day in Prague
The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Prague marked Statehood Day with a ceremonial reception on Thursday, June 26, 2025. The guest of honor at the event was the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Mrs. Markéta Pekarová Adamová.
The Statehood Day reception took place in the embassy's garden.
Numerous high-profile guests attended the reception, including state representatives of the Czech Republic, mayors of cities cooperating with the embassy, representatives of Slovenian companies in the Czech Republic, and Czech friends of Slovenia. Many ambassadors, their deputies, and other representatives of the diplomatic corps based in Prague were also present.
Mr. Jurij Rojc and Mr. Ivan Chruby also attended the ceremony.
Ambassador Aleš Balut and President of the Chamber of Deputies Markéta Pekarová Adamová addressed the gathered guests. In their speeches, they emphasized the strong and friendly relations between Slovenia and the Czech Republic in the past and the commitment of both countries to further strengthen cooperation in the future.
The ceremony began with the performance of the Slovenian and Czech anthems, sung by students of the Pavel Zumrová Music Academy in Prague, Tereza and Anežka Kovářová.
A special place at the reception was given to the Municipality of Idrija, which presented its culinary offerings such as Idrija dumplings and the traditional miner's drink geruš. Idrija lace and the tradition of lace-making were also showcased. Representatives of the Municipality of Idrija greeted the guests in characteristic miner's uniforms and lace-making attire.
